So a while ago, I installed Call of Duty: World at War on Windows 7 and it worked just fine. But now, on Windows 8.1, I cannot get it to run at all!
Upon trying to run the game normally, my Steam status changes to "In-game - Call of Duty: World at War" and straight back to "Online" again, but the game never actually launches.
When I try to launch the game from its folder as an administrator, I get the error "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b).", and again, the game never actually launches or even appears on-screen.
I've seen a lot of posts about changing the sound format to 24 Bit, 48000Hz, but it looks like that only applies to Windows XP, as nothing changes and I get the same error.
I have re-installed the game twice and nothing has changed.
I ran Dependency Walker over the game's .exe and replaced all the DLLs it reported as missing, but once again - nothing changes!
It can't be a DirectX problem because all of my other games use DirectX versions both older and newer than the version World at War uses and they work just fine (the original Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, which hasn't even been officially confirmed to work at all on Windows Vista, works flawlessly!
So, what should I do now? Would a re-install of Windows fix this? Thanks in advance, by the way.
