I just wanna know a card which will definitely give me 250fps constantly on max settings hah 😉 ...
The problem is that we're all only just guessing here because by the time GPUs had moved on to the
point where performance with an old game like COD4 might be that high, the games review sites use
for testing have also moved on, understandably so given the newer features, etc. used by newer games.
Besides, you won't remotely notice the difference if your monitor cannot display such a high refresh rate.
What model is your monitor? Completely pointless trying to have a system that can do 250fps if your
monitor is a standard 60Hz model, or even 120Hz.

... Would AMD be a better choice?
Only IMO if you buy a used 7970 minimum. I won another one a few days ago for 138 UKP total, see
item 261539415998. Remember what I said: it's the same speed as a 280X. Plenty of used 7970s
available now. Two of them in CF would be really quick; one guy has a listing of 160 BIN for an MSI
7970, 4 available; not a bargain, but not overpriced either, what I would call fair.
Buying any new AMD card less than a 290 is pointless IMO, it's just rebranded older tech, hence the
high value of a used card like a 7970.
I do prefer NVIDIA for various reasons (mainly driver related), but used prices for comparable NVIDIA
cards remain too high. Atm the price/performance value sweetspot is with 7900 series AMD cards,
specifically the 7970 (all I'd say is go for a model that has a minimum 1GHz GPU core clock; plenty
on offer these days).
I think you should revisit your rationale (if you have one) for even wanting 250fps minimum because IMO
it doesn't make sense, unless that is you have some magical 250Hz refresh monitor I've never heard of.
And btw, as I mentioned before, for older games at low/medium res, the CPU will be a bottleneck. I don't
believe your current platform is capable of delivering the speed you want, even if you fitted powerful GPUs;
your CPU's IPC just isn't that good. Also, you've not mentioned what your budget is for this GPU purchase;
it's hard to make recommendations without knowing how much you want to spend at most.
