Whenever I switch up my COD4 to any resolution past 1024x768 the display gets real choppy, FPS counter still shows 250 and so does fraps. But my eyes can sense a drop in frames. On Windows CP, it says that my monitor (Acer v193w) doesn't support 75hz. On the Acer website, it says my monitor supports 75hz, nothing is mentioned about refresh rates below/above this, although I assume if it supports 75hz then it does so too for 60hz. There are no drivers for the monitor, and switching between refresh rates has not helped. My graphics card is a 560Ti. Display mode is on 1440x900 60hz.

I've tried setting display modes to 75hz on Windows, Nvidia control panel, and through COD4 at the same time, and it's choppy. Did the same again for 60hz, still choppy.

Any ideas?

set max packets to 100 then set your maxfps to 100 max out the games settings with x4 fsaa. make sure enhanced mouse precision is off in the contol pannel of windows..
the game should now smooth out...
on cod 4 the game uses 100 packets maximum that are tied to the fps in a ratio a ratio that works best at 1-1 so there is no benefit to running the game at 250 fps your just over working your system for no additional performance.
btter to limit the fps to 100 that way when you do get fps droop it wont be as sever as falling from 250 fps to 70. it will be more like 100 down to 90.

tearing on the other hand can only be solved by turning on vsync this will link your fps to what ever your monitors refresh is.
if its an old crt then 75 hz will be best. if its lcd then 60 will be fine as long as theres no flicker. because 60hz on a lcd is different to 60hz on a crt screen.(the lcd is actually 200+hz and shutters at 60 fps which isnt the same as scanning an electron beam)

I will try these solutions later tonight. However if they work, I don't think they could be a permanent solution, as in COD4 there are certain FPS locks, being 125 and 250, that provide you with advantages in the game, eg longer/higher strafes and such. I keep my lock at 250 for these advantages during competitive play. I'll see how limiting the FPS goes and get back to you.

Yes, fraps and the in game counter were both capped steady. I've also noticed the same issue with MW2 and MW3, but not with LoL. Although the first two being FPS games I suppose the problem would be more evident.

Very strange indeed. No way you should be getting micro-stuttering with such high fps(the card is more then enough so with vsync, you should never loose anything)

Does it feel as jumpy if you just move with your keyboard? I wonder if you need some kind of mouse smoothing.

I once noticed strange performance(fps games only) with a mouse connected to a usb hub that was cutting the reports to under 70 vs the normal 124 connected directly to the computer. By any chance may this apply to you?

Nope, even if I move just using the keyboard it's still choppy.
The only way that I can get it to run smoothly is with 1024x768 or lower on 75hz. Even with the refresh rate set at 60hz in the Nvidia CP.

What is your graphic card?
What is your resolution?
