[SOLVED] Coil whine on GTX 1070

Hi everyone. I have been experiencing coil whine coming from my MSI GTX 1070 Aero ITX. I send it to the retailer, they stress tested the GPU but they said it was working normally. Could this mean that the PSU is causing the whine?

What are your full pc specs?

do you have an APU (processor with on board graphics) so you can run the system without the Graphics Card installed to see if the noise is coming from the Power Supply?

ryzen 5 2600
gtx 1070
16 gb ram
b350 motherboard
psy 520w (seasonic s12)

Do you have a program to control the fans on the GPU?

if so dail them down to 0 so they are not spinning and see if you can hear the noise then.

You can try and run a heavy load to work the coil whine out if you have a GPU intensive game (like Witcher 3 ultra with all settings on i.e. hairworks) or unigine for 24 hours and see it stops it.

So are you saying you know 100% that the noise is coming from the GPU?

If thats the case then the PSU wont cause it, it can only be fault fans.

MSI may have tested the card and told you its working ok but that doesnt address the fan noise. I would suggest you speak to them again any say the problem is still present.

Push for a replacement card.
