coils

This URL at the bottom of this post is a website with a picture of what I am talking about. It is the third picture. I used my sensor for a temp reading and holy bee jeepers 50+.C playing game of bf. I have rigged a cooling device now and the coils now are 30.
Here is a fact, I was not able to use ultra performance setting in bios for my ram untill today, and that I assume is because of the hot coils would shut down the computer.

They are part of your motherboards power cricuitry.

I am pretty sure if you attach anything conductive bad things will happen. Abit has a new NF4 motherboard with fans that blow on that whole section.

Mine also run at 50-51 C, I think that is normal.
 
There really isn't much there to break if they get really hot so why worry about it?

They are made for high heat. The temps you saw arent bad at all. Ive seen mine go +80C.
