I'm looking for a good Linux image to create compressed backups.
In the past I used SRD 11 and Ghost 15, and more recently AOMEI Backupper (all based on Windows images). I tested Backup & Recovery 14 (based on Linux) which is a total mess (not only that it deleted some files, but also, a restore of ~40GB, took 20H).

The app has to be started from a pendrive and based on Linux (or Windows, if I can force set the maximum amount of RAM in this image).

i haven't heard of those tools, for your particular need, clonezilla is not a viable option?

i have used it with windows and linux, it is a very decent tool and creates a complete image of all that is present on the partitions of the hard disk you choose to do the backup and then places a file on a destination drive, different than the one you are taking the information from, the image can be as big as the files present, so if the install is 150gbs, the image will be around that size or two thirds of that but no guarantees
