So guys I'll be going off to college very soon and I will be living in off-campus sponsored apartments. It still runs off the college's internet but I need to bring my own router.

That being said I have built my own computer and such but I don't know ANYTHING about routers. So I was wondering what would be good for gaming, live-streaming possibly. I know that it depends on the college's upload speed and such but whatever would help me would be great.

The second problem I have is that I need a router for my house. My dad has been paying a monthly fee to rent a router from TWC (Just realized it wasn't a good idea) and is now going to buy a router and stop renting out TWC's. So I also wanted to get a router for my house.

To sum it up I need a router for college and one for my house. If you need anymore information just ask me. Thanks :D

Two things to make sure of: 1. For future proofing, get a wireless AC router that is backwards compatible. 2. Get one that's dualband capable so that everyone and their mom's won't be disrupting your signal. One last bit of advice, look at the user ratings/reviews just like you would any other part.

Edit: Forgot to mention, look at TWC's router requirements. I think you may need a gateway device that acts as both a cable modem and router.

I actually have my computer hooked directly up to my router atm. I will need to check the motherboard again. I know it was a Z77 MSI motherboard. I'd have to check the exact one.

It is TWC (Time Warner Cable) or Roadrunner. They gave us a SBG6580 to rent which is a modem and router in one. I'm not sure exactly how it performs in terms to other routers.
