Hello! I am in the process of building a PC for college, and I am having trouble choosing an appropriate case. It needs to be portable enough so that I can move it in and out of my dorm fairly easily (I will be on the top floor of a four story building). Below is my current parts list:

i7 4790k
h100i water cooler (subject to change depending on form factor(I don't know how much heat this thing is going to put off))
2x Titan Black
2TB HHD
128GB SSD
Mobo(I haven't decided on form factor due to lack of choice on case other than it must support SLI)
850 Watt PSU
16GB DDR3
(I know the list was vague but I can find all of the parts on deals and such. The only parts that matter in terms of size (# of storage devices, gpus, cpu cooler, power supply) I have listed.

I would like to have my PC sit beside my desk in the dorm to give me as much space as possible for books and such. So I would think that some form of a tower would be good. I also would like your recommendation as to which form factor I should use (uATX, ATX, E-ATX) and which size case I would need (mini tower, mid tower, full tower).

Also, how important is portability for a PC at college? Should I even be stressing about it at all or is it a major issue? Thank you for your support.

Solution
With 2 titan in your build you choice is to go either full tower or mid tower. But since you want a case that portable, you will be better off with a mid tower. With that being said. A ATX mobo is what you will be looking for. MSI Gaming series and Asus ROG series mobo are great boards to start with.

I personally use a ROG Maximus 7 Hero in a NZXT H440. And have it up on my desk taking up only 220mm in terms of width. More information can be found here. https://www.nzxt.com/product/detail/143-h440-performance-mid-tower.html and to top it of the NZXT H440 is one hell of a sexy case to own and look at.

Solution
The kind of build you are making doesn't really lend itself that well to portability. It will be fairly heavy for a desktop pc, but there are cases with carry handles you can pick up. Cooler Master Storm Scout 2 Advanced comes up quickly in google search and looks pretty good for mid tower. With a mid tower you can use a regular ATX board which is great for SLI.
