Hi guys, so my cousin is kind enough to give me his old Gamdias Atlas VH222f monitor. I ran some monitor test online and it works great. But why is the display on my monitor more vivid than my laptop? I assume that the laptop has the more accurate color display since red in the monitor is closer to orange whereas the display in my laptop is a darker shade? can anyone help?

Solution
Your screen is an ips panel. The review of the screen stated that it lacked color vibrancy. You can usually make it look better using the Nvidia control panel, display, desktop color, go down to digital vibrancy slider and increase the saturation level to your liking. It will make the colors brighter.
Your new monitor has a va panel. Va panels have more contrast (darker black) and better color depth to them. Depending on what type of screen your laptop is, maybe a TN, it will look better than your laptop. VA panels are better for watching movies in the dark and having more color depth, but bad viewing at angles more than 20degrees. IPS panels have the best color and best viewing angles. What model is your laptop?

The only way to tell how accurate the colors on a monitor are is to get a calibration tool like an X-Rite. Or if you can find someone who did a thorough review on the displays.

Of note, "color accuracy" is simply a test to see how close a monitor is to various points in a color space. This I would argue depends on how the monitor was built moreso than the panel type itself. As a measure of proof of this, I noticed something from TFT Central's ASUS PG278Q review, the monitor out of the box had basically no color deviation despite being a TN panel. However, the thing a TN panel may exhibit is color banding or dithering since TN panels can't display more than 18-bit color.
