Items with color attributes provide resistance to certain elements.
As I desperately tried to find appropriate fire resistance for the ToEF
today (I never did), I started thinking... Are the items themselves
resistant to those elements as well?

Is my black dragon scale mail immune to acid traps?
Can I wear my red dragon hide (or even leather) gloves in the ToEF without
fear? Is a blue helm innately rustproof?

I found a red pickaxe being quite durable in ToEF (though it broke
unfortunately after three digging attempts). As far as the gauntlets go,
have you tried elemental gauntlets? They're artifact and give fire
resistance.
