So lately I've been having this issue. After I play Battlefield: Bad Company 2 for an hour or so the game crashes, along with Skype, and these colored pixels start showing up on my screen. the only fix is to reboot the PC. This happens mostly with videos, but has also happened in programs such as AMD Overdrive. Some hyperlinks and text on forums are also not visible when this happens.

Specs:
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Motherboard: Asrock 970 Pro 3
CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 965 BE 3.4Ghz + Arctic Freezer 13 CO cooler
RAM: Crucial Sport XT DDR3-1600MHz 4GB
GPU: Asus Radeon HD 6850
PSU: Corsair CX-500W
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 500GB 7200rpm + Seagate Barracude 2GB 7200rpm

before you ask, I've got the latest drivers and no viruses. No OC. Temps are good. GPU never goes higher than 73º C and CPU shouldn't be the issue with a cooler?

I've been having problems with crashes, BSOD's and restarts ever since I bought this rig 3 years ago. Because it usually comes and goes, I figured they would be software related (virus and whatnot) specially after the multiple formats I've done, but this only started happening very recently after my latest one. Perhaps GPU related or drivers? I'm going to replace this GPU soon anyway but the quickest I get to isolate the issue, the better.

EDIT: Just happened again. Skype displayed this message right before it crashed:

Yeah, I'm going to replace it anyway because I want to upgrade it. The warranty is expired anyway. I can't afford to test it on another system, though.

Hey, are you still experiencing this issue or have you replaced your graphics card? If you've replaced your graphics card or if the issue has gone away, if you could mark scout_03's post as the solution, it'll help them out but also let everyone know that the issue has been resolved. Thanks.

I'm bumping this. I have replaced my GPU and this still happens. I've tested the RAM for errors with Memtest for a few hours and no errors were found.

thoughts?

shouldn't b since it also happens outside browsers. plus the game and skype crash... it must be something else.

EDIT: oh you're talking about in the GPU? I don't think I can disable it though. I went to the control panel and that tab is greyed out.
