[SOLVED] Colors are washed out and looks like gamma is very high while playing ONLY at 4K

Hello everyone,

I have question regarding 4K gaming.
I have GTX 1080,i5 4670K,8GB RAM and of course 4K monitor.
Problem is that every game (especially newer) I tried to play in 4K had colors washed out and screen was much brighter,like gamma was set pretty high.
I always thought that this was because 4K was meant to play that way,but I started to doubt that,since it doesn't make sense.When I play in 1440p everything is normal,colors are realistic and brightness is great.
Do you perhaps know what is causing this problem?

Older build versions of W10 caused that in 4K gaming when using HDR through W10, but it's been fixed in recent build versions, so make sure you're completely updated (1903 is latest).

Guys,my monitor doesn't support HDR.

Check in-game settings. Turn HDR off in game settings.

I would also make sure HDR in W10 is turned off as well. It's more likely to cause the problem you described than in game settings for HDR.

Guys,I found out the source of problem.All I had to do is set output dynamic range to full in nVidia Control Panel at 4k.Now it works perfectly.Anyway,thanks for help.

Yeah I guess I assumed you knew Full RBG was best setting for 4K, but maybe you're new to using it. Great that you got it running proper anyway.
