Combine the scratch disk with the OS drive?

Consider this setup:

- 1x74GB Raptor OS drive
- 1x36GB Raptor Photoshop scratch drive

Could an argument be made that 2x36GB Raptors in RAID 0 could run the OS drive and scratch drive together?

Remember that once applications are loaded, the OS drive does not need to be accessed very often. Therefore I think you could still maintain a high performance scratch drive even though it is on the same disks as the OS.

Note: I am not concerned with overall space for the OS drive or scratch disks. So please don't recommend that larger disks should be used, like 150GB Raptors. I would just like to gauge which setup would perform better under normal working conditions.

If you combine the drives in RAID-0, you will have 72 GB of space and a faster system. The question is: "Is 72 GB sufficent for you?". You swap disk will be on the RAID-0 drives.
Separately you will have a combined total of 110 GB, but about 20% slower system than going with RAID-0.
The choice is yours.
