Combining Hard Drives

If I have an almost full 1tb and I want to expand my storage with another hdd but I do not want to make a new drive, I want to just combine the two hdd into one drive on the computer what is the best way to go about this?

Windows and applications have gotten really really good at managing multiple drives.

Personally, I would NOT try to combine them into one drive letter.
