Coming from the 1090T should I get the i5 4430?

At this point in the new generation of gaming. The majority of users and my personal experiences say that the 1090T is bottlenecking my GTX 670 even while over clocked to 3.812ghz. Either that or my 10 hour Prime95 tested OC is unstable.

Is this a viable option to upgrade to or do I have other better options to chose from. I wish this CPU to last me into the next generation of games as they start coming out this coming year. I do not expect a huge amount of power because it's not a very high end cpu. But I do wish to have good performance on at least high settings into the future generations.

I would also consider a SLI in the future to continue keeping up with new games. But as of right now it seems that my 1090T isn't doing what it needs too. Unless there is a problem with my 1090T and maybe my voltages are bad and such and I could attempt to increase my 1090Ts performance for the next few months in order to save my self some cash..

So, what should I do?

You could get a 3570k for slightly more and that would definitely be good for you.

If your motherboard supports AM3+ you could get an AMD FX 83xx CPU which would save you some money, and they perform well. In some games they perform the same as or better than the i5s. Regardless, the performance will be absolutely fine.

Here's some benches for the one you picked out. Gaming ones start at 9:10ish http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iy5HTXi32dc

I just want to ask, people may be saying its bottlenecking but are you actually running into games you cannot run properly due to it?

I only inquire cause my GF is still running a 1090T with a HD7950 and literally has not had a game she cannot run at 1080p usually maxed out or high settings without getting 60+ fps (she plays BF3/BF4/FF14:ARR/GW2)

I would over clock the 3570K but it seems after watching a few benchmarks including the one listed above that the 4430 seems to be a better option though I don't know if that means that it's still a better option for years down the road.

As for why I ask, it's because like I said I am getting very poor performance across the board in almost all intense games such as Metro LL and even Battlefield 3 had it's issues for me. And as of now my FPS for battlefield 4 on ULTRA I max get 46 FPS and usually sit in the mid 30's with lots of lag. While a friend has a 3570K and a GTX 670 and runs it very smooth and always above 65 FPS even during intense on screen battles.

In your position, I'd go for the 3570k or the FX 83xx. I don't see much point in getting a locked chip while you could get an unlocked one for slightly more that could hold it's own for a few more years.

BTW, check your CPU + GPU usage while gaming at ultra, and then turn your settings down and look at them again. Check FPS also. If the FPS doesn't increase from lowering graphics settings then it's definitely a CPU bottleneck.

Sorry for late reply, I've been outta town. But, I was deeply considering the 8350. Is this a good chip that will last for a while. I've seen lots of videos proving its on par with other similar Intel chips if not better but I wanna be sure before dropping that much money.

I have a AM3 Motherboard that can be flashed to AM3+ though I can't over clock and I would really like too. I'm considering getting a Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 with the AMD FX 8350.

My current board is a M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 which is old at this point and showing it's age.

Really? Well, if I were to get the 8320. Will it work on my M4A89GTD PRO? It is a AM3 MOBO but I heard there is a bios update to allow it to use the AM3+ bulldozers. I probably won't be able to over clock it but I'd be happy with stock for now until I could afford a new motherboard. Have you heard anything about this?

Quick edit: I've been looking it up and have heard some pretty successful stories of people getting good performance from 8320 in a 890GX board. They are even able to over clock to 4ghz before throttling. Sounds promising but would like a bit more input from others.

Your board isn't compatible with FX 8320 and neither are most 890gx boards. FX 8320 and a 990FXA-UD3 are a great combo that would give SLI and CF support and good overclock ability. The price on that board has dropped recently too. You can get CPU and board for less than the cost of an i7.

I've been doing a lot of reading on the differences of 1090T to 8320/8350. It's so 50/50 with replies and answers. So, is it truly worth the upgrade from my 1090T 3.812ghz to the 8320/8350. Is what I'd be getting performance wise worth $150-$200?

I game a lot and do a lot of video encoding usually to work on my PS3 from MKV to MP4. I play games like Battlefield 4, Starcraft 2, Skyrim, Rome 2 Total war and lots of source engine games. I also like over clocking and benchmarking. But my main point is I need a CPU that will give me a good constant frame rate on all games across the board. Right now I can get pretty good frames on most games but they are usually lagging and choppy even though I get decent frames. Battlefield 4 for example at times peaks at 150 fps but seems sluggish and slow and when large scenes or battles or lots of explosions I get drops to 15 fps and again even at 60fps it seems to have a lag to it.

So, for $200 is it gonna be a difference worth that price or should I wait for new chips to come out? Sorry I just want to be 110% on it before I spend a lot of money as I don't have a large amount to spend.

Your CPU is still pretty good for current titles, to be honest. If you could sell your current chip and board for a decent price, then I say the upgrade is worthy for sure. This is about as good as I can find comparison wise between a PhII X6 and an FX 8350. Keep in mind that an FX 8320 clocks to FX 8350 speeds and beyond. Average overclock is in the neighborhood of 4.6-4.7ghz for both chips.

Is there word of new chips coming out in the next while that are worth waiting for? Also, are you good with over clocking? I'd like to push my 1090T to 4ghz and I think that will put my mind at ease with FPS rates and probably get more performance out. Right now I don't believe it's stable but after 6 hours of prime 95 it seems to be running okay but I'd like help with it. I'm terrible with voltages and stuff I can PM you for these answers if you can help me with that I'd realy appreciate it as it would save me going out to buy another CPU.
