Paul NZ :
Something is wrong on your system then. Or select command prompt in the menu, it should work
Obviously there is something wrong or I would not be asking for help.
Every other post on this issue is answered by people pointing how to start a cmd prompt, which is not the problem. The problem is it won't stay on screen.
Every google search also come up with the same lines, "click start, type in 'cmd' , hit enter", solved.
But that does nothing to address the issue in every search result I have found.
I also know that I can reinstall my windows, but I would rather find the problem than just nuke the whole OS and hope for the best.
