Command-line Tools Are Not Recognized

OS-- Windows XP Pro SP2

When I try to run ANY command-line tool at the Command Prompt I'm getting
this error message :" 'Ipconfig /all' is not recognized as an internal or
external command, operable program or batch file."
The old DOS-based commands are recognized, like: DIR, PATH, CD, CLS

I can't find the reason of that. I'm very thankful in advance to any answer
and help that could help me to solve this problem without re-installing
Windows.

I think it's going to be an easy one for any MVP.

Oh man.. you have a virus.. I just dealt with this one the other day on somoene's computer.

I'm trying to remember what the virus was.......

ok.. here's what you need to do...

Do a search for TCP*.sys on your computer.. you should find 2. You need to get 2 legit versions from another computer..

Delete those 2, put the 2 good ones in there.. that'll get your network connection back... then you'll want to update antivirus, which might not be working.. if that's the case, you'll have to hit an online website like www.pandasoftware.com and do an online virus scan.. that should clean a lot of it up.

that is, if it is the virus, otherwise your paths might be wrong in your system variables.

But it looks exactly like the virus someone in my company got..
