Command Prompt Issue(s) with no fix in sight

I have searched all over the web for a few hours and have tried various fixes but can't seem to find one that works for me.

The problem is command prompt opens and closes instantly when trying to run MsiZap.exe. From what I can tell, it's supposed to stay open long enough for the user to input a command. I have also tried running msizap.exe through the elevated command prompt but then I can't give it a command. When I try a command (ie: *[WA!] ALLPRODUCTS ), it gives me the same thing I get when I run msizap.exe in it.

I think I have had experienced this problem in the past but I wish to fix it now. I would be fine if the solution doesn't keep command prompt open but rather allows me to input a command so that msizap.exe does it's thing before closing (which is safely removing unnecessary files in the "C:\Windows\Installer" folder).

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate Edition and it is by no means a fresh install. I have tried the fixes here to no avail.

I'm willing to provide any further information if needed.

TL;DR : Command prompt opens and immediately closes when running msizap.exe which should stay open for a further command. msizap.exe does not function properly in when directly opened in elevated command prompt.

Okay well a preview of http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa370523(v=vs.85).aspx and http://support.microsoft.com/kb/921296 state this utility was for 2K and XP, NOT 7. Further MS removed it as it causes 'problems' to the system when used. So the reason it "doesn't work" is both your using it for the wrong OS AND by DESIGN to not be allowed to work ever again.

If your trying to reclaim space, use CCleaner, it does a good job of temp files. If your down to your last 10GB of space anyway, you should just either get a external drive ($50 for a TERABYTE! at Walmart) or get a new system (Only $300 at Walmart and gets a iCore PLUS 500+GB Drive!).

How you got version 5.0 is beyond me. I searched the (useless) Microsoft site and they have a 6/12/2013 build, but they will not let me find it. only some xp garbage from 2008 and the hotfix patches and the other normally useless crap.
My command prompt behaved the same way when I tried to force flash a vga bios on a card that had a "read only" locked bios. All attempts failed as it was a permissions issue suspected. I know you are administrator but CP is acting like you are not. Thoughts, =UAC setting, firewall, or write protect is in place that is the problem with CP. My best guess.

Actually the security element your talking about ur6beersaway changed in Vista and stayed the same in 7. Basically they reduced all the levels by one, so XP Admin is actually just a Super User in Vista/7, a User in Vista / 7 is what we called PowerUser in XP, and a normal User is a Restricted User account. The actual real GOD account in Vista / 7 is coded into the OS and is not a hidden account accessible in any manner except by MS Engineers called TrustedInstaller. That is the real an only true Admin account of the system. You can easily find the account by looking at the Security of a Font file and then the Owner of it, you will see the 'invisible' account that really runs the computer.

Ha, I guess I didn't look closely enough nor did I research correctly. I was dead-set that the Windows\Installer folder was filled with useless files but upon another google search after reading your response, it seems as though the files aren't so useless after all. I was using WinDirStat looking for stuff to remove when I found that folder using a "large" chunk of space (relative to the rest of my 95gb partition). I have a few TB of space, I just don't want to increase the size of my C:\ partition sincethat would be unnecessary when it houses only my OS and key programs.

Anyway, thank you. I'll just leave it be and stop wasting my time. :lol:
