So basically I spent, with rush processing, a whopping 428.94 (free shipping) for a decent mid range (from my research) gaming system.

I still had my evga 8800 gt which I wasn't sure still worked. My system had died a year or more ago and I have no idea if it was the power supply, video card or the Mobo. So I decided to go fresh.

I still have 4 gigs of the same speed ram as what is coming with the combo , if it works then I should have 6 gigs of ram which I guess is adequate for most games.



The parts I chose took a few days of scouring the reviews on the Egg and lurking here. The wifi adapter got amazing reviews so I grabbed it. The Mobo has the best success rate of possibly turning my dual into a quad (however the processor in question seems to be fine as a dual.) The videocard got some of the best reviews and seemed adequate for my gaming needs.

Games most likely played will be Batman:AA, GTA4, Sniper ( the new one), both Mass Effects, singularity, the Sims 3 (quit chuckling @ me) and what ever pops out and gets my attention.

1. Where will I have a bottleneck, or what will I need to upgrade first with this build.
2. Will I be fine with setup, and do any of you experts see any conflicts arriving from my parts in the setup?

Impressive CPU compute core, for the money ... beats the snot out of ATOM (dare say).

GPU wollops and PSU pumps ... case cool ? ... cpu (oc) & after-cooling ?

Never thought about cooling, maybe I should scavenge some fans from the old case. Don't know If I will delve into OC right away. Anything will be an upgrade to the 3 year old laptop I am using now.

Agreed on the drive, however it was part of the combo. Should make a decent storage drive.
Plan on sliding in my old ide 7200 rpm drive for the os drive, and I have a terabyte sata drive that will be storage also.

shouldnt run out of space for ohh say a week.

thanks for the input Alvin. Barring no hardware issues it should be cake. Defnitly starting from scratch, been a while since I had a running tower, so formatting it all.

should be here this afternoon, I will get it running and possibly bench it, just to see if its working the way I expect.

wooops ... I am going totally senile ... and, sorry ...

... My last post was meant for a thread where a guy is building a Frankenstein rig with LOTS of older parts ... some are ancient ... But I think he figgered out how to make it all work ...

.... I WOULD agree that drive is gonna drive you crazy, as it is very sluggish and the greens are built cheap, so I have seen 3 bad ones which caused nightmare probs because the errors were intermittent corruption and it was hell to nail down the cause.

If ANYthing ain't right ... DO suspect (ask yourself about) the green drive ... if there is any possibility the drive might cause the prob ... it prolly is. ... just keep that in mind.

I would consider one as a backup drive, so long as it spent 99% of it's time in some dark drawer, somewhere. ... really my last choice, of the current crop. ... There is "cheap" (like a nice 250GB F3), and then there is "way too cheap" ... the greens.

Just my opinion ... don't want to be a kill-joy.
