Hey guys, now I'm using Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 (2.66GHz) and I'm planning to upgrade it to Intel Core 2 Quad or maybe Core 2 Duo E8400. Don't say "just upgrade your system! Your system is old" I know it's old and slow, but I can't afford better system Plus, my currency is cheaper, so To find new system, it's a little bit pricey. OK So I have Acer MCP73VE(socket 775) and it's using Nvidia Geforce 7050/620i chipset. and I'm a little bit concern about core 2 duo E8400's compability with nvidia chipset. If it's bios problem I not too concern. I can just update the bios and done. What do you guys think? does it's okay to go to E8400?

Solution
Make sure you're on the latest BIOS version for the Acer motherboard and then look into dropping either of the wo processors you're looking at but please keep in mind that it won't offer much of an upgrade in this day and age especially since the new processors will just dump more heat and have a higher clock out of the box but current gen app's will benefit more from concurrent parts.

I don't think updating the BISO will be straightforward, considering how old that platform is and the inability to find resources for said motherboard. make and model of your PSU and it's age? What sort of a cooler are you working with?

I'm have make some research. E6750 and E8400 not having too much different just speed. And I'm using 500w psu and a stock "ACER" cooler with shroud.... not intel stock cooler. Next month I'll upgrade gpu to gt 710 by colorful. Now I'm using gt 240
