Using my computer for 4k gaming, video editing and cad work. Hooked up to 4k monitor. I’ve never built my own PC from scratch, only bought this one and then upgraded the GPU and storage about a year ago. Is there anything obvious that's creating a bottleneck?

Currently rocking;

Intel i7 3770K 3.5GHz 6MB Cache LGA 1155
Corsair h105 Liquid cooling
MSI GTX 1080 TI
ASUS Max V intel z77 motherboard
1TB SSD
3TB HDD
16GB blitz dragon RA
Corsair Vengence C70 case
Cosair 850w PSU

I’m looking to downscale in size to a Streacom DA2 Mini-ITX Case. Trying to work out how I can logistically fit everything inside. If I switched to a Aorus Z390 motherboard would this be possible? What else needs changing. Thank you for your help.

Looks like all of the ITX AMD boards only need 1 EPS power plug, you might be OK on 500W, i'd prefer 600W personally.
AMD at the moment in essence has the lead and their boards will take one more generation of CPU in all likelihood, intel you can get an extra few FPS out of it, but the minimum FPS might be worse.
For less money you can get the R7-3700X with 8 cores and 16 threads.

Years ago recommendations were easy, intel every time. Ryzen 1000 and 2000 made that a 50:50 call, Ryzen 3000 has to have you having a good reason to go Intel in my opinion, it's cheaper and faster in most circumstances.

Ah I see. Would I see a vast improvement with a i7 9700k and 32gb for ddr4 ram - or is an AMD chip better/cheaper? Would 500W be sufficient to power a system like so? So i'm looking at a budget of around £800

What would be the equivalent amd board? ASUS ROG STRIX B450-I. My gtx 1080 ti will still work alongside?

Plenty of basic questions from my side. apologies.

I hope you've got more out of this than just being told what's OK. Check your cooler height compared to the specs on the case, be aware that small cases are trickier to build than big cases, so take your time.

I appreciate all the help here. This is a starting foot before I do some in depth research over the upcoming winter break. I have a lot of tutorials to trawl through. Wanted to have an input with someone like yourself with a bit more knowledge before I start .
