Hi, my laptop doesnt like to start beyond the message to press esc to go to bios setup when my hdd or ssd is connected, but everything is working fine last time i used it.

What laptop - make and model? How old?
Beside the SSD and HDD are there are any other drives in the laptop?
Which drive has the OS on it?
If you attach just the OS drive, does Windows start?

Any drive, with or without Windows, if the drive has windows, it proceeds to boot and stuck on the logo, but it boots properly with my AIO Boot USB drive with diagnostic tools in it, but when i try to reinstall windows, it is also stuck on the logo

Also the HDD or SSD is on a CD Caddy since this laptop has no special sata cable on it, so i installed a CD Caddy instead

Also the laptop works fine yesterday with everything working, i dont know what happen to it today..

For a start, I'd suggest not using a Caddy. I've had too many go bad on me. I ended up just buying a USB to sata cable for my external SSD.

is there a speed penalty on it? Is USB 2.0 a bottleneck?

Mine just stopped working. But after a year or so.

If you don't use it, does the laptop start OK?

I installed Windows 10 on a SSD on the caddy when it was working, and then formatted it because i thought Windows was corrupted, and i also thought the SSD was dead even though its new, so i tried a HDD laying around, it also doesnt work, i even tried without any drives on the caddy, and it still doesnt work, it only works when i remove the cd caddy

If you have already got a drive with Windows on it and you add another with Windows on it, how will your laptop know which drive to boot from?

No, i only use one drive only.

And is that in the Caddy?

There is no nvme on this laptop, only sata and the cd, since this laptop needs a special cable to convert some kind of sata port into full size sata, which is lost. I used a CD caddy instead.

Right now it doesnt even POST anymore, i think the CPU is dead, because it gives me 1 blink on the CAPS LOCK, this laptop is braindead. Need to get a new cpu?

I gather it's got a 160gb hdd - https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c02511489 and that's all in it.
And I guess it had something like Windows XP on it.
And like most laptops, if you try to change the operating system then they just stop working.

Why are you adding the drive in the caddy to it?

I would like to use the ssd for it to go fast, but the laptop died, the ssd was brand new

I gather that is a proprietary connector - not a standard connector.
What makes you think you can attach a SSD to it?
