Question Compaq CQ60-615DX Notebook

Bought this lil laptop for 50 bucks, suddenly screen starts tearing don't believe it was dropped or anything but it was one tear, now there's 3 and one is pretty sizable I didn't go too in depth yet but with a quick google search I read some stuff about refresh rates or some settings within the computer that could cause this I am working on making this laptop bare bones to the max for my mother so it runs well for her browsing I wasn't sure if it was something I did while tweaking or what in the heck is going on I have the refresh rate set to the lowest 60 but the resolution is set to the highest 1366 x 768 -- what can I do to slow this from getting worse quickly or stop it completely?

It's not possible to fix either without replacing the whole screen which isn't worth it right?

I think you are seeing something other than screen tearing.

Do you have a monitor to plug this laptop into?
This looks like a broken lcd panel that may have to be replaced.

Yeah, it doesn't have the issue on a monitor, that's kinda what I figured, so nothing really to be done about it besides replacing the whole screen which probably isn't worth it I guess.

Generally once there is a defect in the lcd, it will spread elsewhere with no realy way to stop it.

Make sure you arent squeezing the lcd when picking up the laptop. Also make sure the keyboard is flush and not pressing on the screen.

Likely you will have to replace the lcd

Merge the two to make a whole.

However...I have a similar level Toshiba. I certainly wouldn't put any money into it.
I wouldn't have purchased it for $50 in the first place.

I would buy a different one. That laptop will be pretty slow and isnt worth putting money into. A replacement screen would cost nearly the price of a better, faster, laptop.
