What is a good compatible hard drive?

You should be joking... This is 486sx/25MHz laptop, over 20 years old. If I remember correctly, there should be small (100MB and less) ATA/PATA hard drive. eBay is probably your best chance.

I know it's an old. Found it in my parents house. Want to play some old dos games I still have on diskettes. Hard drive is bad and can't seem to find any information on the hard drive to see if I can replace it. Thanks for the response!

It should be fairly easy to take the hard drive out. It's also quite possible there is Compaq-specific dongle connector between (hopefully, standard) hard drive interface, and laptop. Post a picture somewhere. If the drive is PATA (40-pin), you might find an adapter to put CompactFlash card instead.

For old DOS games, I've heard people using DosBOX, or other virtual environments.
