I have an old Compaq Presario SR5703WM that I basically use as a home office computer for some remedial tasks. I'm planning to upgrade it to a 64 bit to add a few more years of life to it but my question is this: What memory upgrades can I do for the 64bit switch with my current motherboard? I'm still learning when it comes to installing hardware myself.

I currently have an GeForce GT 430 GPU installed, power supply has been kicked up, and CPU has been changed to an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4800+ 2.50GHz. OS is Windows 7 Ultimate.

From what i can find out here does the motherboard support up to 4gb in total which means 2gb per channel/slot.Look at ddr2.You'll find this info under " Product Information"->" Motherboard Specifications, M2N68-LA (Ivy8)"->"Memory upgrade information" .
What amount is the current ram? If you have three would is just stick to it,don't think it's worth upgrading for 1gb more or you would be able to sell the 1gb stick for a decent amount to recover money spend.

You could check what current hardware is like this,

Download hwinfo32,
http://www.hwinfo.com/download32.html
open it,
click run,
close the top window which is the system summary,
click save report at the left top,
in the next window at the bottom check=⓪ "short text report" after that next, you'll get to see what is in your pc
