compaq presario v5000 win xp to win 7 audio driver not found...help!

Compaq Presario v5000 1gb ram 150 hd and upgraded from windows xp to windows 7 now my audio driver isn't found. windows update offers me a driver but when I try to install it come back as error. I understand that it wasn't meant to run win 7 including provide support to older versions like mine. now, in the past I have ran into a similar situation and I ended up having to use a vista driver which provided the driver support I needed for windows 7.However that computer was a dell desktop. Can anyone help to get me headed the right direction finding an audio driver for my v5000
