Hi All –

I am interested in a DIY 4K video editing PC in $750 range. I found website below but the motherboard seems to be out of stock everywhere [MSI B450 Tomahawk Max - $115].

Anybody have a suggestion for a comparable motherboard or another build altogether in the same price range that will support 4K editing?

I did one build 5-6 years ago and while it was scary it was very satisfying when I booted it up! It worked the first time out and is still going strong but the rig will not support Premiere Pro CC 2020, hence the new build.

Solution
There are some changes I would make. Mainly the PSU is not very good, but there have been some shift in parts prices thanks to COVID, so here is a better value for the money:

Board is in $115 and in stock at best buy as I speak, so act quickly.

All of these boards are very similar:
The B450 Tomahawk MAX
MSI B450-A PRO MAX
MSI B450 Gaming Plus MAX
If for some reason the Tomahawk goes out of stock again, looks for one of its siblings.

You CAN get the older versions of these motherboards which lack "MAX" at the end, however, you may need to update the bios if they do not come with a compatible BIOS revision, however, the board most likely will.

Luckily all of these boards support MSI BIOS Flashback, which is pretty simple to update the BIOS from a USB drive if you have to.

Hey, thanks!
A few questions:
The HDD - Crucial P2 500 GB - is that used for a boot drive? What about an additional internal drive for storing data? What I currently use is a CRUCIAL M500 120 GB SSD as my boot drive and an internal WD Caviar Black 1.5TB for data storage. I'm assuming since it's 5+ years later I could get an even larger HDD for a nominal price. Any suggestions there?

The case: I currently use an Antec Three Hunderd Two which I like. It also has a lot of mesh at the front which I've heard is good for airflow. It's selling at a comparable price to the NZXT. Thoughts on that?

Also, do I need a cooler for the AMD Ryzen 5 3600? If so, do you have a suggestion? I don't see that a cooler comes with the CPU on the PCPartsPicker page you're linked to.

Regarding RAM: would I be able to add a second 16GB (2x8GB) later on? It appears there's 4 slots in the MOBO. Is that correct thinking on my part? Additionally, if I opt for 32 GB - is there a difference between (4x8)GB and (2x16)GB? I'm thinking (2x16) as it gives me options to add more RAM later, but is there any other considerations to be concerned with?

Regarding the PSU, I currently have a pretty new Corsair RM750x in my current rig. It was replaced by warranty for a 650x [they were out of stock for the 650x and upgraded me to the 750x free of charge]. I figure I'll get a cheaper 500W PSU for my current rig which will become the household PC and swap it out for the 750W for my new build.

Thanks again for your suggestions!

The NZXT H510 case you mention is a COMPACT case. I see that it's 2 inches shorter. Will that be too cramped or affect airflow for these components (which I bought):
MOBO: MSI B450 Tomahawk Max
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core, 12-Thread
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3600
GPU: AMD Radeon Rx 590 - XFX Radeon Rx 590 Fatboy Core Edition 8GB OC

Thanks again.
