Hello everyone
I am about to buy a gaming motherboard and i am between two brands.
The Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 and the Asus Maximus viii hero.
So..I would like to make for me a comparison between the two of them in terms of the quality of components and features.
Thanks a lot

Both are very high quality boards. I'm also building with Skylake and I went for the Asrock Z170 Extreme 7+ (originally chose extreme 6+ but there was a combo which was worth it).
Here's a link for specifications:
Gygabyte: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128835
Asus: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132565

Both motherboards have lights (the asus on the chipset, the gigabyte on the sound portion) if that matters to you; the gigabyte also has led on the rear panel. The Asus has only one M2 connector while Gigabyte has 2. The Gigabyte has two lan ports (if you need them, one intel, and one killer 2400, generally the Intel NIC is considered better). The Asus board has a higher quality sound chip (purity sound 3) which supports 7.1 surround (the gigabyte inly supports up to 5.1). Also, right now there are some problems with the Gigabyte BIOS but after some BIOS updates it will be solved. Also, the Asus board seems to have more customization features (controls. monitoring, etc.), but see what fits you best. I also considered both but went with the Asrock Extreme 7+ in the end (as stated in the beginning) because I figured it will be the best for the price (with the combo I paid about 200$ for that motherboard). I would go for the Asus board if those are your only options and you won't do RAID M2 SSD in the future.

I made a mistake about something:The Asus has Supreme FX 2015 not Purity Sound 3 (the purity sound is in the Asrock Motherboard). I couldn't find a detailed comparisons of the two audio chips between the Gigabyte and the Asus board, but considering the Asus board supports 7.1 surround as opposed to 5.1 I think this proves the Asus audio solution is better.
Found more info:
Asus:
Audio is one of the areas where Asus invest heavily in the Maximus VIII Hero. Based around the Realtek ALC 1150 codec, Asus adds an ESS ES9023P DAC, A Texas Instruments R4580 amplifier, an NEC UD2-4 5NU de-pop relay, Nichicon audio capacitors, a dedicated clock, and a cluster of EMI prevention methods.
To compliment that audio hardware, Asus provides a comprehensive software tool to give audio control to the motherboard’s users.

Gigabyte:
Audio is better than what you'd find in mainstream units. It features TI Burr Brown OPA2134 op-amp and Sound Blaster Recon3Di with 600ohm headphone amp.
