Hi, I want to know what is the best specs to have for a gamer and games like Minecraft, LOL, WOW. We are lagging a lot when we play those. Here are the specs of the one my son plays with:
Acer Desktop PC Aspire AM3400-E2212 Athlon II X4 635 (2.90 GHz) 4GB 1 TB HDD ATI Radeon HD 4250 Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (English/French)
(He now have Windows 10 and a new graphic card Nvidia 700 something , can't remember)

And here are mine for my computer, I think mine is better and we could maybe exchange it.

HP Desktop PC Pavilion p7-1120 (QP777AA#ABA) Intel Core i3 2130 (3.40 GHz) 8 GB DDR3 1.5 TB HDD Intel HD Graphics Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

( I dont have Windows 10 and I think it's still the same graphic card in it, not sure so he could keep is graphic card and put it in mine)

Most likely, the gfx card is the weak link. And would be in both machines. Yours probably doesn't have a discrete gfx card, just the built in iGPU. His was originally similar with the HD 4250, which was also a built-in iGPU... although your iGPU is faster. Neither are very good for gaming, however.

It sounds like he later upgraded and installed a discrete gfx card; the "700 something". Need to know the exact model "700". GT 7xx, GTX 7xx, ...

Your machine is newer and has a faster CPU. Better for gaming with a discrete gfx card.

If it is a GTX 750 or GTX 750 Ti, the gfx card is enough. The CPU he has is extremely slow. There are still some faster CPUs available for that platform, but since they are all obsolete they would have to be found on the used (ebay) market. Your CPU/platform is indeed faster if you want to go the swap route. But have him take the gfx card with it.

Ok so now, which specs would you recommand me for a new computer with that graphic card? Or I would have to buy also a new gfx card now too? What should I look for when I look for a new computer more performant that what he has?

I think I just noticed something : it's the GHz that determines the speed of the computer?
I'm really not that good as you'll notice lollll
So that's why you're saying that mine is faster than his because I have 3.40 and he has 2.90?
So the example of one I found refurbished below will not be a good option then since it's 2.70GHz?

And I was planning to buy on Newegg.ca, would you recommand refurbished ones?
Like let's say this one :
Refurbished: ASUS Desktop Computer G11CD-B11 Intel Core i5 6th Gen 6400 (2.70 GHz) 8 GB 1 TB HDD NVIDIA

And I see a lot of 1TB. If we use half of that, does it affect how the games run? Like something that we have to keep less than half or that doesn't matter?
