Compatable CPU Help Please.

I have a MSI MS-7390 motherboard, and i would like to know what would be the best CPU option for gaming. I am currently using a AMD Athlon X2 7850 Black Edition which i just about keeping up with my needs.
I guess i am wanting to know is there a cpu that will perform better with the motherboard i have or do i need to start saving and upgrade the motherboard, cpu and ram.

Its a Asus Nvidia GTX 550ti. I know its not great and a new card is on the list. I want to save up and get the best i can in the summertime.

That's an AM2 socket.

I would save up for a new motherboard.

There isn't much of an upgrade path on AM2.

AM3+ mobo with whatever cpu you can afford would be best

I thought Mobo and cpu upgrade would be the answer. Is there any cpu that would provide better performance for the next few months (second hand possibly) while i save up some money.
I have already asked the question about cpu mobo upgrade and have an idea what i would be getting but will take a few months to save up.

Nothing of any worth that won't slow you down saving up for the next upgrade.
