Question compatibility and downcloocing ram mac pro

hello, i want to buy mac pro mid 2010 without ram and i want to add my own 2x 8gb 1866mhz ram combo, but mac Pro mid 2010 supports max 1333mhz. (not sure)
i want to know if i can somehow make it work and if mac pro mid 2010 will support ram not officialy made for apple.

You should look into ECC UDIMM ram. There's no point going for higher frequencied ram kits since your platform won't go beyond DDR3-1333MHz.
