TLDR: TV turns black for a few seconds then resumes while gaming through PC. Not sure what is causing it.

So I recently purchased a new television used as a monitor for PC. TV is a Hisense H8F 4k (ULED). Since I have started to use it, I have noticed an issue when playing games only. When using the TV for any PC task besides gaming, I have no issues. Netflix, Chrome, Youtube etc. But when I start up a video game (Far Cry 5, Metro Exodus, Ghost Recon Wildlands), the issue start. It will randomly turn the screen black for 2-3 seconds. Then it will resume as though nothing has happened. The TV power led will stay lit (so I am assuming the TV didn't shut down and restart during). Previously I had my PC hooked up to some no name 1080p TV and ran fine without any issues. I was thinking maybe my GPU was having issues since 4k so I tried to lower all setting/resolution in games, to no change for better or worse. I tried buying a newer HDMI thinking maybe the wire was damaged while switching TVs. Didn't make any change. Tried different ports on the TV with no change. Only a single HDMI port on my GPU so can't try other on that. I have tried to change all setting in the TV after reading similiar issues online. Didn't change. I have tried to change setting within Radeon hoping that would help. No change, although I might not be changing the correct settings?? Drivers on PC are all updated. TV software is also up to date. So this is where I am at. Hoping somebody else has some advice or ideas to try. I figured I would ask here before calling Hisense.

PC:

stock clock on cpu (212 evo but never OC'd....yet?)
gpu is running 1450 core clock and 2150 memory clock and +9% power limit on afterburner (has been for 1+ years)

Solution
Tyr resetting your gpu to base settings in afterburner since it only happens during gaming. Same thing with power settings and any voltage settings. Start with base and if it is stable then you can try to up it as you go to see when it starts back up.

You may be correct. The OC was stable for over a year with no prior issues. After dropping back to stock limits, it seems to have resolved the issue. Time will tell. I do think my GPU was overheating a bit also. Its running almost 10-15* C cooler on stock limits. (Low 70s now vs mid 80s). I ordered some thermal paste and will do a through cleaning after I receive it. Ill try to update the thread in a month or so for archive if all is well

Ahh that is information you should have included. Yes you were thermal throttling. Use the fan speed controller in Afterburner and make a more aggressive fan cooling curve. I use 10 percent jump for every 10 degree jump. When I get up to 60c I use 75 percent speed and at 70 I use 90 percent. Good cleaning of the cooling fins is probably in order along with the fans. And of course while opening your pc case that would be a good time to do house cleaning inside the pc.

I didn't really do enough monitoring to find out about the thermal issue. My fault. It seemed that during the "dump" (black screen), it cooled the GPU enough to be not concerning at the time.

I put in a new case fan in my pc and was horrified to find TONS of dust in my aio cpu cooler radiator, gpu fan and radiator, rear case fan. And I thought my pc was kept clean, with always cleaning the exterior filters. So dust and other unidentifiable things sneak in to our pcs, learning our houses are not as clean as we think they are! After cleaning my cpu cooled off 10 degrees C and my gpu went from 69c to 59c during use.
