Hi

I have a Dell Precision Tower 5810 Desktop with 685W PSU on it. I want to upgrade its GPU using EVGA 1070Ti FTW2 Gaming. The problem is that the current PSU has only one 8-Pin male socket as an output while EVGA 1070Ti FTW2 Gaming has two 8-Pin male sockets on itself. Would a 1x8-Pin female to 2x8-Pin female splitter do the job?

Many thanks.

(P.S. Currently, the desktop has an Nvidia Quadro K5200 which came with the original package. This card is connected to the PSU using a 1x8-Pin female (only 6 pins are effective as far as I could see) to 2x6-Pin female splitter and connecting only one of the 6-Pin female sets since the card has only one 6-Pin male socket on itself. The other 6-Pin female set is connected to nowhere.)

The 1x8pin to 2x8pin will work... the majority of the 1070ti cards require a single 8 pin connector. On the FTW2 the additional 8 pin is there if you want to OC it to the extreme(gives enough power limit headroom for that), so it's not necessary if you're not doing LN2 OCing or other crazy stuff.
Thr tdp of the card is 180W... that adapter will work for sure. The 8 pin can supply up to 150W of power + the 75W from the slot... an 8 pin is clearly sufficient for the card.

It won't damage your PSU in any case.

You could also go with a single 8 pin variant of the card. like this MSI one.

Video Card: Gigabyte - GeForce GTX 1070 Ti 8 GB WINDFORCE Video Card...
You can use a 6pin to 8 pin adaptor if you have one 6 pin connector not plugged in. It will work.
The PSU will also be enough for the 1070ti.It's a 685W 80+ Gold unit made by Delta so it's solid.

You'll also need to make sure that the card fits your case. The best way would be to measure the clearance in your case yourself and compare to the size of the card.

Many thanks for the reply. I mistakenly didn't clarify this point: I don't intend to use EVGA 1070Ti together with Nvidia Quadro K5200 but I want to replace the latter. Thus, I will only need to connect the 8-Pin male output of the PSU with two 8-Pin male sockets of EVGA 1070Ti. This brings some doubts, whether it is ok to use 1x8-Pin female to 2x8-Pin female splitter for this purpose since it is a relatively high power consuming card. Some people say that I need to change my power supply to a new one which will have two 8-Pin male outputs separately and I should connect these two to the two 8-Pin male sockets of EVGA 1070Ti by separate cables (They say that splitter may fry both the card and the PSU.). This is the point I'm mainly asking.

Update: correction on the GPU the msi requires 1x8pin + 1x6pin.. this gigabyte requires a single 8pin.
