I have a NZXT Kraken X63 which was previously mounted on an i5-9600k. I have decided to go the AMD route. I want to purchase Gigabyte B650M AORUS Elite AX motherboard but I don't know if it's default backplate/ mounting bracket (not sure if the motherboard even comes with one) will be compatible with the Kraken X63.

I have requested an AM5 bracket from NZXT's site but there are many posts on reddit that say the replacement part takes too long to arrive and it's the only part holding up my build. Does anyone know about/ have experienced the same issue?

The Kraken X63 is supplied with both Intel and AMD mounting plates, they press onto the cooler and lock/unlock with a slight twist. If you bought the cooler new, you should already have the AMD mount. If you don't have it, then you will need it to mount on an AM4/5 motherboard.

I bought the cooler 4 years back so I dont think it had the am5 bracket

Almost Every aio manufactured is Universal. They contain parts to fit All Intel and AMD for the last 20+ years.

There's more than one source for an NZXT Kraken x63 bracket, but them taking a while to ship is not an issue, it's an inconvenience you must live with since you are also to blame. You should have ordered the part when you got the motherboard, not waited until after the build.

Sorry to sound harsh, but you should have figured that an Intel lga115x mount and an AMD AM4/5 mount would be different.

AM4 mounting is the same as AM5 mounting for most coolers, there's very few that aren't compatible and that has to do with deck height, mostly on specific coolers like the Noctua L9 series, so if you still have the AM4 brackets in the original box, they should work.
