Compatibility of Motherboard and Processor

If i buy an i7 4770k Processor, will an MSI Z87 - G43 Motherboard be compatible?
How will it affect my computer performance?

If you are yet to buy, get an i7 4790k

yes, they will be compatible. mobo doesn't affect performance much. also, if you want to future proof, get a z97

The chip has nothing to do with performance.
I has to do with bells and whistles.

How many USB ports
How many and what kind of PCI-e slots
Now many, and what kind of SATA
ect.

They all perform the same, unless you overclock.

I think OP was concerned about the Z87 vs the Z97 and whether this difference had a performance consequence.

Guys, i was merely concerned in buying the MSI z87 vs (Brand) z97.
Whats the difference aside from The number of slots , ports, etc.
And is the MSI z87 board which i have in mind, good to pair with the i7 4770K ?

By "Chipset" are you refeing to the motherboard or the CPU (i7) ?

I was referring to the Z87 chipset, that runs the board.

That is the only chip I have ever heard refereed to as a chipset.

It used to be 2 chips, that is why they call it a set.

I have settled on either the i7 4790k, will my motherboard MSI Z87 G43 be suitable.
I understand i may be repetitive. 🙁

I personalty won't waste money on a Z87 board, as I don't overclock.

A B85, suits my needs.

Bells and whistles have NOTHING to do with what is required for and 7 4790K

An i7 will run the same on the cheapest board/chipset the H81, as it will on the most expensive boards the z87, if you don't overclock.

Whether you have 4 USB2 or 6 USB 2 ports has absolutely nothing to do with performance.

I really don't at that price range..

My high performance board is a MSI B85-G41 PC Mate

It has everything that a Z board has except full overclocking. It dose have limited overclocking.

It runs Flight Sim X flawlessly with an i5 4670
It even has crossfire.

If you are never going to overclock Don't waste your money on a i7 K.
Get the non K, it performs the same, you just can't change the multiplier, for overclocking

Yes, it is compatible with Haswell, and Haswell refresh processors.

The BIOS update is the other way around, if it is needed.
If you have a Z87 you might have to update the BIOS for a Haswell refresh.

A Haswell refresh board is backward compatible.
