Hello,

I realize we are having a shortage on the cards globally right now, but in case I manage to get ahold of one, I was wondering if it will be compatible with my motherboard. I have read these cards now use an 8 pin connector, but I am not sure what exactly that means. Does it have to do with my motherboard PCI slots? Or is it something to do with my Power Supply. Does the card come with an adaptor for the PSU?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Best regards,

Solution
is related to the power supply's PCIe power cables, not the motherboard.

the Nvidia FE RTX 30 series cards use a newer 12-pin PCIe power connector.
any 3rd party manufacturer of the cards are still using 6 or 8-pin connectors.

if you acquire a card needing a 12-pin cable, and you have a modular power supply;
you should contact the PSU manufacturer and request a new 12-pin PCIe power cable.
