So I am going to be getting new parts to put in my pc by the end of December and I have some questions of compatibility on it. This is what I plan to have:

CPU: Core i5 4690k
GPU: EVGA GTX 970 4GB
PSU: Corsair Builder Series CX 500 Watt ATX/EPS 80 PLUS
HDD: WD Blue 1TB Desktop
Case: NZXT Guardian RB

I was wondering if the graphics card would fit in the case with the HDD cage. Also would the 500w power supply support the build? All answers would be very appreciated :)

ls_shadow between now and when your ready to buy read up on computer parts and look at newegg sales video of there parts and online reviews. between now and this winter intel dropping there newer skylake cpu. there on new mb pin out 1151 the older haswell are 1150 pins so you cant mix them. then sometime in dec-feb time frame nvidia newer pascal gpu are dropping. if your looking for gaming cases for long gpu look at how the cosair r line and special ops caes are laid out. with a k cpu you want to use a z chipset take a look at the newer photo of the z170 mb a lot of them are using just black or black and white. if your sticking wiith haswell look at the asus ar mb if you have a local micro center there this month combo deal.

What would you guys need for a full pc list? Like everything in it? I just thought that the other parts wouldn't really matter but I can list everything if you need:

CPU:Core i5 4690k
GPU: EVGA GTX 970 4GB
PSU: Corsair Builder Series CX 500 Watt ATX/EPS 80 PLUS
HDD: WD Blue 1TB Desktop
Case: NZXT Guardian RB
Disk Drive: LITE-ON DVD Burner - Bulk Black SATA Model iHAS124-04 - OEM
Motherboard: Could you recommend me one for a good price?

Good point smorizio. LS_Shadow, you can wait for a couple of months for Skylake CPUs.

I could wait but I would need to be sure that the budget would be less than $400 for a new motherboard and cpu together

I am sure that budget Z170 motherboards will be available...

I just decided I am going to stick with the 4690k because I don't have the funds to buy the new ddr4 ram plus a new motherboard with the cpu, which would end up costing well over $400.

Skylake supports both DDR3 and DDR4 memory..
