Compatibility Question

I'm currently in the process of building my first computer in years, so I'm a little rusty on the current technology and I had a quick question I was hoping you guys (and gals) could answer for me.

I recently purchased a mobo/cpu combo from newegg

mobo -

Now I'm looking to get some RAM for it. I was looking at -

My only concern was that under the features it says "Compatible with Intel Core i7 series CPU for Intel X58 Motherboard". Will that still work with the setup I have, or no? Or if anyone has some suggestions for better RAM, or better bang for my buck please let me know.

The DDR3-1600 will work fine for you but you have a dual channel MB. You selected Tri-channel memory. Buy in pairs. 2 x 2GB should be good for you.

The mushkin has one step lower CL but takes more voltage to get there.

For any ram you are considering, do your own homework.
Go to the ram vendor's web site, and access their configurator.
Corsair, Kingston, Patriot, OCZ and others have them.
Their compatibility list is more current than the motherboard vendor's QVL lists which rarely get updated.
Enter your mobo or PC, and get a list of compatible ram sticks.

Cpu performance is not very sensitive to ram speeds.
If you look at real application and game benchmarks(vs. synthetic tests),
you will see negligible difference in performance between the slowest DDR2 and the fastest DDR3 ram.
Perhaps 1-2%. Not worth it to me.
Don't pay extra for faster ram or better timings unless you are a maximum overclocker.

I tend to favor Corsair and Patriot for their support.
