I am running a founders edition nvidia 3090ti with a MSIz690 with 12th generation i9 and I decided to upgrade the psu from an 850 to a 1000w but now my pc will not turn on. Are there any compatability issues?

upgrade PSU.

As above, from what to what?
Also, did you completely and totally swap ALL the cables, to only use the ones from the new PSU?

Both great choices.
Nothing should've gone wrong from either though...

Does the PC turn on with the gpu completely removed? [Hopefully, you aren't using the i9 F-SKU.]
Are you able to test the gpu in another PC?

i9-12700K

I feel I've tried everything. I installed my old psu along with original cables, removed gpu and even tried just powering the motherboard by itself. No luck. I plugged motherboard from another PC to the new psu and it turns on.

So, your Msi Z690 is dead then... is what it sounds like. Nothing's coming on if that's dead.

That's what I'm thinking but idk how. I turned all power off and depressed power button and waited 5 min before removing wires. Is there a chance that it's the power button? Is there a way to jump the positive and negative? Also how would I successfully test the motherboard?

Nicked the board good during the psu swap.
Bent and cracked the board somewhere.
Not exactly related, but I damaged my current board's onboard audio to where audio doesn't play on the left speaker. I was a bit careless during one of my maintenance routines and unknowingly knocked off a couple solid caps for the audio processor...

Is there a chance that it's the power button?
But you got the PC to turn on using a different board - or did I misread into that?

Also how would I successfully test the motherboard?
The only way is with another motherboard... which you already did.

It's very possible, I feel more defeated than anything lol but all things do point towards the motherboard.

The psu turned on a different pc(I wanted to rule out the psu)

And then we're back to the motherboard: nothing's coming on if it's gone kaput. I'd bet both psus work with the other PC.
Exactly how the new board gave up the ghost is hard to say; pretty much requires a specialist if it can't be visually discerned.

Thank you for the help.
