I currently have a h170-pro (non gaming) which says it supports 7th gen intel processors. I was looking to upgrade my cpu (Intel i5 6402p) to an i7-7700k but when I look on my motherboards manual it isn’t In the support options it only goes up to 7700 so could it be that the manual is outdated? It says it supports 7th gen but everything after 7700 isn’t there so do you think it would cause compatibility issues?

Solution
Is this a pre-built system that you are attempting to upgrade? If so, the motherboard they used may have been tweaked to where it does not support the I7-7700K due to possible power limitations. The I7-7700 processor is a 65 watt processor whereas the I7-7700K processor is a 91 watt processor.
