I'm trying to build a very cheap computer capable of running games at medium or so settings. So far I have an Intel Q6600 and an Intel DG35EC motherboard. Looking at the motherboard's specs for RAM here: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/boards-and-kits/desktop-boards/000006758.html#dimms it would appear that if I want to have 8gb, which I do, I need to have four sticks of DDR2, 2gb each, that are low density (x8), and are double-sided. Are these just "guidelines" or does the RAM have to be this exact? Especially the double-sided part? If so, would this RAM listed here work?: http://www.ebay.com/itm/4GB-2X-2GB-2RX8-PC2-6400U-DDR2-800-128X8-16CHIPS-240PIN-NON-ECC-DESKTOP-RAM-/172133305772?hash=item2813f1cdac:g:irEAAOSwEK9XAYDW

Thanks for the help in advance. I feel like this is a bit of a silly question and I'm overthinking it, but the idea is to build the cheapest computer possible so making mistakes isn't an option.

Thanks for the reply. I'm hoping to buy used to get a better deal and I would need 2gb DIMMs since the motherboard only has 4 slots.

The DDR2-800 4 GB (2 x 2 GB) at that ebay site would probably work with the Intel DG35EC motherboard. But if wanting a total of 8 GB for the system then two lots of this item at ebay (for a total of 4 x 2 GB DDR2-800 modules) would be required.

But keep in mind that due to variations in memory module characteristics, the modules may not be (entirely) compatible with each other. Ideally all four 2 GB modules should come from the same kit where the modules have been tested to ensure memory module compatibility.

So if trying to run two kits of 2 x 2 GB, or 4 x 2 GB individual modules, then be prepared to spend time and money testing more (2 x 2 GB) kits or more single modules to find a combination of modules that work together (properly).
