So I recently purchased a AMD R9 380 to give my old Inspiron 620 a boost, only to find that it's completely incompatible. I'm not very techy, but I believe it's something to do with my PC being incompatible with UEFI cards? Excuse me if I'm talking out my arse here, I only know what I've picked up from googling my issue. Anyway, if this card is incompatible, what card should I be going for? I need a substantial upgrade to my current GTX 460, so am I best just getting a whole new PC from scratch at this point?

Solution
The GPU should work with legacy bios, thats not the problem. The problem you would have however is the Power supply in that PC is FAR too low power to handle an R9 380.

The best GPU I would get to work in there is a GTX 750ti as those do not require external power. That should work fine for you. Anything else you need to upgrade the PSU as well. And to be honest, its old enough I wouldn't go spending that much on it, its an old enough system that it would likely bottleneck anything too powerful.

Incorrect since I put a 750 watt PS in my 620 and it still will not boot with a 380 in the slot. It is an issue with some older Dell's not having UEFI BIOS and many newer video cards require. Some can be switched to support legacy Bios.
