My current build is a store bought one, sadly i didnt know about building too well.
I bought a hp h8 1414
Its specs are:
M3970AM-HP Angelica mother board
Fx 6120 cpu
7450 radeon gpu
300w power supply
10Gb ram gddr3
Windows 8.1
My question is im planning on upgrading my case and getting a 750ti and i am upgrading the power supply as well so that i meet my needs but does the 750ti work with the motherboard/cpu.
If not is there a gpu that is compatible that is as cost efficient as the 750ti.

Solution
If this is your HP: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c03517389
...it has a std. 300W OEM PSU that will handle the GTX 750 Ti as is if you want to try it out. Most folks here that have HP setups seem to have had good luck with this Evga GTX 750 Ti: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487024

The GTX 750 Ti is the fastest card that does not require a 6 pin PCIe connector and can run on 300W PSUs. http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-750-ti/specifications
If you want to upgrade the PSU to something with more capacity, the R7-265 is around the same price point as the GTX 750 Ti and slightly faster.

Solution

The problem isnt the psu, it is the motherboard, will it be compatible ? Because i was on a website that had a pc builder and it would not let me put the two items together

The motherboard was what I was referring to when I said that other posters here have had good luck with the GTX 750 Ti card I listed above. It seems HP has had problems with retail gfx cards sometimes. The 'new' GPU used in the GTX 750 Ti and GTX 9xx cards have presented problems in some older HPs. That is why I listed the card above.

thanks i understand now
