Is the i5 6500 Compatible with the new z370 the new motherboards

im almost sure that the answer is: no.

i heard that only the new intel gen works on it.

No. Z370 doesn't bring much over Z270 anyway.

from the motherboard CPU support lists I've looked at so far the answer is no. I'm assuming it's a full universal no.
