I'm taking on the challenge of building my first PC and was just wanting to make sure that the following components will all be 'compatible' and work fine together:

Case: CoolerMaster HAF X Case

RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws Z F3-19200CL11Q-16GBZHD 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3

MotherBoard: ASUS Rampage IV Extreme Motherboard

Graphics Card: ASUS Radeon HD7970 DirectCU II 3GB

CPU: Intel Core i7 3770K

Power Supply: Corsair HX-1050 80 PLUS Silver Power Supply

Nope, the board is made for intel processors, not amd.

Ok, changed the Motherboard (silly mistake) and changed the processor to Intel Core i7 3770K. How are things looking now?

Thats way over kill on the psu, a 7970 only requires a 550 watt psu. Something in the 650-750 range would be plenty

Ok so now my build stands at:

Should this be setting me back $2100, or am I getting ripped off? :lol:

You can't use the Rampage Extreme because that is a different chipset/socket! The only processors that are supported are the i7-3820 and 3930k! However, the 3770k outperforms the 3820 and the 3930k will set you back further!

I am asumming you want high end?
That would either be the ASUS P8z77-V PRO, or the Asrock Fatal1ty Professional, or Gigabyte Z77-UD5h
