I play CS2 at a decent rank with a 60hz monitor (20K ELO) and I'm looking for an upgrade, I have been playing on 60Hz for about 10 years and I need a monitor that has a high refresh rate and low response time and is ideal for FPS and competitive titles, I have a budget of 240$ and not all monitors are available in my region. Anyways just give out your suggestions I would really appreciate it !

SPECS:
GTX 1660 Super
I3-10105F
16 GB DDR4
ASUS Prime H510M-R
MSI SPATIUM S270 512GB
Windows 11 Pro

Definitely go for a higher refresh rate monitor at144hz or higher if your system can support it. The difference in reaction time when noticing an enemy will give you that competitive edge (especially if you're holding an angle).

What's the size of your monitor now? Like @COLGeek said knowing your full system specs or current setup would be helpful to figure out the right monitor, especially for specific features like Gsync/FreeSync.

Given the GPU and relative lower end of the performance spectrum for the overall system, I recommend sticking with no more than a 1080P display.

Here is a review that might be useful for your considerations:

This display (read the reviewer notes) also works well with Nvidia GPUs.

Thanks for these links, also wanted to ask if the new MSI MAG monitors are any good, they seem cheap and have solid specs

Seems like a good choice. I would not expect your current system to be able to fully take advantage of its 200hz capability. You would likely need to lower to 144 or 120hz for best performance.
I can get over 200 FPS on CS2 with low settings, besides higher refresh rate is better even for future upgrades right ? And it's a cheap option for 170$

Understood, just don't be disappointed if you need to adjust the display settings for optimal gameplay.

Another thing, just to add, don't expect miracles when changing displays. In spite of all the information floating about the interwebs, you eye can only process visual information so fast. Same with your overall nervous system. Lots of objective "blind study" tests that would suggest that super high-speed resolutions have a bit of a placebo effect in terms of gains and quality.

Even at lower settings, you are still playing at 1920x1080, right?

Personally, I recommend playing at the native resolution of any display. Up to you and your gaming preferences, but by lowering the resolution, you actually change the balance of your processing load between the CPU and GPU. The "gains" come at expenses elsewhere.

Is your memory 1x16 or 2x8?

It's 2x8, I play on that res because I got used to it from the CSGO days

Hey there,

It's a decent monitor. It's a fastIPS panel, which kicks it up to 200hz. They have really good response times, so when playing fast paced shooters, you have very low lag. Colours are great on IPS panels. HDR is just okay. IPS don't get as dark as VA panels (defo don't buy a VA panel, as the ghosting will disgust you), or OLED, which has true blacks, and better HDR.

It's AMD freesync capable, but if you use a DP cable, you can use G-sync with your Nvidia GPU, if you wanted to for certain games. Obviously you might not want that on when playing competitively.

Agree with @COLGeek on the upgrade part. There's not much more you can do with that system. UPgraing either GPU or CPU will unbalance things, and you'll be left chasing your tail trying to swap out individual parts, that may not give you want you want.

A full upgrade would be good. A modern base PC, and then you can update that with better performance parts when you can afford.

Thanks for this conclusion.
Buying a whole new setup is the ideal thing to do, I bought this PC back in 2020 to play old games like CSGO, TF2, L4D2 and other games competitively.
It can also run most games but Im not too interested in newer games.
But that's it if I wanted to play modern games on higher graphics I would need to buy an entirely new setup.
