Complete format disk without boot possible?

Is it possible to completely format your hard drive without booting from windows cd? when i right click on hard drive , there is an option that says *format...* will this do the job? also will it format my internet browsers too? will it affect windows? does my registry format completely? i mean are there formated files there which someone can find? im using windows10 btw

I recommend dban(derricks boot and nuke) it is a botable iso file that uses repetatively writing to securely erase,takes a short while,but indispensable.

No.
You have to boot from something else. Windows will not format its own C drive.
