Complete new build, or just replace dead motherboard?

I built this PC back around 2012, but the motherboard is dead. I believe the remaining hardware is okay, (motherboard fried due to storm) but I am wondering if it would be better to upgrade at this point to something more current since I have no guarantee the CPU, memory, GPU, etc is still working and since 1155 motherboards are hard to come by that would be around $300.00 wasted. Would I be able to build something comparable to this setup for under $800 dollars, or possibly even exceed it? I have the parts listed below for reference. I would prefer Intel, but I am open to AMD builds as well.

if that was a 4th gen i7, i would have just asked u to get another mobo and upgrade ur gpu. so with that 2500k, a new platform is more beneficial :

Only thing missing is a case.

If you have a monitor already, you could drop the one that is on there and get faster ram all for about the same price you were looking at before.

Right now isn't a good time to buy a new video card unless you are shooting for a 1050 Ti or a RX 560. The mining craze has driven up prices by a very large margin and it isn't worth the cost of a new card right now.
