The problem:
When playing games my PC will randomly freeze/hard hang and I will be unable to do anything, the caps lock light won't even turn on, ALT-F4, CTRL+ALT+DEL etc. does nothing, so I am forced to turn off my PC by holding down the power button. It can happen 20 minutes into a game or 4 hours into it. I have not had this happen when out of a game. It used to happen once every few weeks, but for the last month or so it happens without fail at least once a day if I play a game.

As it never happens out of a game, what does that suggest? Something about using more power or being under load/performing intensive tasks causes the issue?

What I have tried:
Monitoring my temperatures and voltages at all times using MSI Afterburner and OCCT, my CPU never reaches higher than 75 degrees celsius and my graphics card never higher than 60.
Memtest for 14 hours - no errors
Scanning my PC for viruses/malware - nothing found
Updating my BIOS, ALL drivers including CPU, GPU, chipsets, sound
Replaced my 650W PSU with a brand new 750W PSU.
Reseating my CPU/reapplying thermal paste.
Various settings changes in Power Settings, i.e. turning off link state power management
HDD checks such as SFC /Scannow - no issues
Resetting the CMOS on my motherboard.
Moving my graphics card to a different slot.

I have also tried Googling for solutions for hours on end and found nothing I haven't tried yet other than one post which mentioned disabling "C-States" but after Googling for more information on that found it's risky to do so? Will wait for someone's comment on that before trying it.

Would love some advice/something to try next, I am out of ideas and it's stressing me out :(

My system specs:
OS: Windows 10 home 64 bit

Solution
Upgrade to WIn 10 if you are on an older system. Skylake has features only W10 supports.
Install all teh drivers from the asus website + teh latest driver from Nvidia.
If it still crashes, do a BIOS upgrade.
