I am trying to plan out my computer build and I have become confused on the graphics card. The main use is going to be Photoshop/Lightroom which is more cpu/ram based. I am also going to be doing some video editing using Vegas 12 (Not the Pro edition). This is where I am confused. I have mainly done still images in the past so I am not as familiar with video and I need some help. I have been reading about Vegas 12 and the 6xx series cards do not seem to work that well with it. I am not using this for any video games. So is a video card worth the cost? I am trying to stay around $1000 USD for this build so I don't want to spend a lot on a graphics card if Vegas is just going to be using the cpu for processing. Like I said, I am new to the video side so any help would be appreciated. The more I read on this the more confused I get.

Specs so far.
intel I5-3570k
ASUS P8Z77-V LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

I am also going with a SSD for the operating system and programs
16 gb ram
Windows 7 (64)

I know Photoshop can use some GPU based tasks, as can Vegas but both work with OpenCL,so you should be able to use an AMD or Nvidia card, AMD I think being more up to date on OpenCL as Nvidia has tried to push their Cuda tech more.

In reality though, both programs don't offer a huge range of GPU based stuff anyways, it's only certain filters or certain encoding that can benefit from it.
